Bali, one of the most popular tourist destinations nowadays, has some of the most amazing beaches and spectacular waterfalls. However, most of the attractions are packed with tourists, leaving some of the natural wonders to be less enjoyable.
Some of the waterfalls such as the Tegenungan Waterfall and the Tibumana Waterfall, though magnificent in their own way, are just way too overcrowded with tourists.
Though there are some waterfalls in northern Bali such as Gitgit Waterfall that are less crowded, reaching them is a pain.
Located only a little over an hour from the touristy town of Ubud, is still a hidden gem in Bali waiting to be discovered. It is one of the best waterfalls near Ubud.
Â
Located in the Tabanan Regency which is located North of the cities of Canggu and Ubud. From both cities it is approximately a one hour ride and is therefore best done as part of a day trip to the North in combination with some of the other sights such as the Pengempu Waterfall or Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. The road to the Leke Leke Waterfall will pass through a combination of busy streets and lush empty roads with views over green rice fields.
Â
Situated on the banks of Lake Bratan, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan is a major Shivaite
temple. A UNESCO site, it’s one of the most visited places in Bali. Made of grey volcanic stones, this temple is an architectural wonder as well. It was built in the year 1633 and is dedicated to the water goddess, Dewi Danu. It is also considered to be the source of Lake Bratan and is a point of reverence for both Hindus and Buddhists.
